This Privacy Policy explains how Sunwise collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the app.
Summary: Sunwise collects one optional face photo at a time when you use shade scan. With your explicit in-app consent, that photo is sent to OpenAI, LLC for AI vision analysis. Sunwise does not sell face data. A copy may remain on your device until you delete it.
When you choose shade scan, Sunwise collects one face photograph that you take with the camera or upload from your photo library. The image is compressed before transmission. We do not collect biometric identifiers (such as Face ID templates), voice, or video. We do not attach your name, email, or Apple ID to the image when sending it for AI analysis.

Shade scan is optional. Before any photo is sent to OpenAI, Sunwise shows an in-app consent screen naming OpenAI and describing what is sent. You may decline and still use UV, routines, and timers. You can revoke camera/photo access in iOS Settings and clear stored scan data in the app.
Sunwise uses OpenAI, LLC vision models to analyze face photos for shade estimation. Before sending a photo, the app discloses what data is sent, identifies OpenAI as the recipient, and asks for your permission. OpenAI is required to protect data under its API terms. We select models that support image input only for this feature.
Sunwise helps you plan safer sun exposure using UV index and optional outdoor weather context.
Profile tab → Sun & weather alerts. That screen explains WeatherKit use and lets you enable or disable alerts. UV values on the home and plan screens primarily use Open-Meteo; WeatherKit supplements outdoor weather on supported Apple devices when the capability is active.
Location is used at runtime to fetch forecasts and is not sold. Weather requests are sent to Open-Meteo and/or Apple as needed to display conditions. We do not store a separate weather history on Sunwise servers.
Sunwise offers optional auto-renewable subscriptions (Sunwise Pro) billed through the Apple App Store:
Prices are shown in the app before purchase. Plans may include a 3-day free trial for new subscribers where offered. Subscriptions auto-renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period in your Apple ID subscription settings. Apple processes payment; Sunwise receives subscription status metadata to unlock premium features—not your full payment card details.
Most profile and session data stays on your device. We use Firebase (Authentication, Analytics, Crashlytics) and apply reasonable safeguards to protect information processed by our services.
We do not sell personal data. We may share non-face data with processors needed to run the app, including Firebase, Open-Meteo, Apple WeatherKit, and Apple in-app purchase infrastructure.
You can revoke location, camera, photo, and notification permissions in iOS Settings. You can reset shade scan data and session history from Privacy & Data inside Sunwise.
If you created an account, you can permanently delete it in the app—this is not a temporary deactivation:
Account deletion removes your Firebase Authentication sign-in and clears associated on-device app data. Deletion is permanent. You may be asked to sign in again before deletion for security (recent-login requirement).

Sunwise is not intended for children under 13.
Data may be processed outside your country via cloud providers including OpenAI and Google Firebase.
We may update this policy and will update the effective date accordingly.
